POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for promotion of optimal trauma care in the context of the Parker Adventist Hospital trauma system through clinical activities, quality improvement activities, consultation, and professional education. ?Public education and community outreach will be provided during injury prevention activities. ??Experience:
• 4 years critical care nursing experience - required
• 3 years leadership experience - preferred Certification and Continuing Education:
• Maintain current certification in: TNCC, ACLS, PALS or ENPC
• Minimum of 16 Trauma-Related continuing education hours per year or 48hours over 3hr time period prior to State Trauma Review Clinical:
• Daily Trauma Patient Rounding on all admitted trauma patients with ICD9 codes 800-959.9
• Attendance at Trauma Alerts and Trauma Activations when available
• Evaluation of Emergency Department patient census log
• Transfer of trauma census data into department log
• Assist with coordination of Trauma Patient Care:
o Collaborates with Multidisciplinary Team on plan of care to ensure in-house and discharge needs are met
o Educate patient, family and associates on pain management plan
o Actively participates as a clinical resource and mentor for associates
o Functions as a patient and nurse advocate to maintain safe, clinically efficient care
o Service recovery when needed - communicated effectively along chain of command
• Data abstract completed on all trauma patients
• Effective and immediate communication of any identified issues to Trauma Manager and Trauma Medical Director
